My Experimentation (what I tried, what changed)
Here are sample experiments I did and how the visualizations responded
Experiment 1: Low‐Risk Scenario
-
Entered low values
-
The icon array reflected this: few icons are “highlighted” to show risk. Most are not.
-
The visual makes clearly obvious: “out of 100, only X might have event,” which gives a quick sense of magnitude.
Experiment 2: Higher Risk Scenario
-
Increased age / added risk factors (smoker, high cholesterol).
-
The icon array then shows many more highlighted icons. The contrast (highlighted vs non‐highlighted) becomes more visually striking.
What Changes in the Visualization:
-
The number of icons highlighted (the numerator) changes, obviously.
-
The proportion / pattern in the array: how icons are placed matters for perceiving the cluster / spread.
-
The color / shading contrast becomes more meaningful when proportion is larger.
-
Possibly layout changes (if many are highlighted) make the visual more dense, which can affect how easy it is to quickly see the risk.
